A very robust fungus with olivaceous green colours and large spores. The flesh also has a greenish tinge. It is usually associated with oak (Quercus ssp.), but these specimens were associated with hornbeam (Carpinus) in an open park-like forest.

It may look like the smaller spored C. citrinus, which is also greenish.
