A very characteristic fungus, with a deep blue colour. It might be confused with the more througoutly coloured C. coerulescens, but the latter has narrower, citriform spores. It also has patces of veil on the cap - which C. terpsichores lacks.

With age it discolours coppery yellow.

There are very few records from Denmark.
