This small species, with very distinct yellow colours, is said to be deadly poisonous.

It resembles other yellow species in section Fulvi, but is destinguished from these by its olivaceous alcalinereaction on the cap cuticle, and the completely saturated yellow colouration.

It is associated with beech ( Fagus sylvatica) and occasionally also holm oak (Quercus ilex) and very rarely with Lime (Tilia) on calcareus soils.
