As the name suggests, this species forms mycorrhiza with Cedrus.
In Northern and Central Europe it is associated with Beech (Fagus).
When young it has very "cold" yellow colours, and greenish
yellow gills, but later it oxidizes with warm red colours on the cap.
The context of the stipe is often bluish.
It is easily confused with C. elegantissimus,
which however has larger spores.
