This form, with yellowish cap, growing with deciduous trees, is sometimes separated as C. amarescens Moser.

In this yellowish form from calcareous Fagus forest, C. caesiostramineus resembles C. talus or C. langei and other species, but none of the these has a bitter cap cuticle.
