The purpose of this site is to illustrate Phlegmacium species - in the hope that it will be a useful supplement to other floras and keys. A very useful photoflora - Cortinarius Flora Photografica - is published by a swedish, norvegian, french team (see sample page) This project started in 1998 and will continue with frequent updates, when ever we have something new!

The species selection represents almost all the vegetation types of europe with a bias towards nemoral forest species. We plan to visit different parts of Europe to get a broader ecological and geografical range covered. We have chosen only to use names, which we feel there are a certain amount of consensus about.
